Psykers are masters at manipulating the Warp in Warhammer 40, Darktide. While they can use the majority of conventional firearms, their true ranged prowess comes from the unique staves they have at their disposal. Each of the four Psyker staves in Warhammer 40, Darktide are built for different purposes. It would be unfair to crown one as the overall best without considering how the others might be excelling in different areas. Instead of ranking the Psyker staves according to their objective power levels, this guide aims to analyze each to offer players more insight into what they should pick for the role they want to play. The Trauma Staff is the first Staff weapon players will unlock as they're leveling up their Psyker. Its primary fire shoots out bolts of Warp energy that deal low damage to the first target they hit. Meanwhile, the alternate fire causes spontaneous Warp explosions on the Psyker's targeted area; these attacks can be charged up to deal more damage over a larger radius. This staff is considered by many to be the weakest due to the alternate fire's high Peril generation and slow use time. However, it is very valuable when it comes to controlling the battlefield as the Warp explosions can knock almost everything down. Fully-charged explosions also deal massive damage that's capable of evaporating most man-sized targets. The Purgatus Staff is, for all intents and purposes, a Soulblaze flamethrower for Psykers. It excels in burning down hordes, and it's perfect for holding choke points.
Psykers alone see the Imperium as it truly is: a mass of contradictions, bigotries, and horror fashioned in the name of survival. Warp Battery.
Psykers are an iconic part of the Warhammer 40, universe, so it's no surprise that they're playable in Darktide. Playing as a Psyker Psykinetic gives you access to the sorcerous powers of the Warp, with all the power and peril that such gifts entail. While you'll never lack for ammunition, overusing your power can lead to an untimely end. Like the Marksman, Psykers excel at range. Their ability to deal heavy damage to single targets make them perfect for quickly finishing off Elites, but their long charge times and need for cooldowns means that they require protection.
If you missed the other spotlights, you can find the Zealot: Preacher here , the Veteran: Sharpshooter here , and the Ogryn: Skullbreaker over here. Should their discipline waver for even a moment, they risk a grisly, explosive demise … or worse, possession by the unspeakable entities of the Immaterium. As such, Psykers are hated and feared by the ordinary run of humanity. They are culled, controlled, and victimized at every level of society — despite the Imperium's inability to function without them. Psykers alone see the Imperium as it truly is: a mass of contradictions, bigotries, and horror fashioned in the name of survival. Unsurprisingly, this makes Psykers insular and untrusting. Nevertheless, shared hardship does create a bond between all Psykers — a spiritual siblinghood that binds them even in the heat of battle. As for the others?

The greatest adjustment has been the talent system over the old feats. However, a third passive ability limits the number of magical powers the Psyker may use through a system called Peril. Patch 13 completely reworked the Surge Staff, transforming it from a crowd-control weapon into a single-target monster melter. Fully-charged explosions also deal massive damage that's capable of evaporating most man-sized targets. As stated previously, maintaining the balance of Brain Burst damage output and the player's Peril meter while hacking and blasting through Warhammer 40k: Darktide should be the primary focus of those using the Psyker class. Killing Marked enemies has a chance to instantly remove some Peril. Since reducing Peril takes a lot more time than reloading a weapon, it's very important that you tell your team when you're recharging.
