History is littered with the shells of artists who only ever released a single LP, yet grew to become legends and acquire a cult of personality surrounding their releases. Multitudes of one-album wonders could simply be lying in wait. Skyhill came to me seemingly by accident in December of last year. I was chatting to a friend about the band Ninja Sex Party, whereupon I was informed the frontman of Ninja Sex Party had performed in a previous band entitled Skyhill. Two Americans making distinctly European influenced pop music with touches of downtempo, and a guitar section seemingly stolen from U2? That should be a recipe for disaster right there, but somehow Skyhill manage to make it work, crafting a relatively ingenious album in the process.

The series was not received well and was dropped after the first episode season. Danny mentioned that the Mondo Media staff experience was welcoming, although he was not confident that the way his character was written would appeal to audiences.

Leigh Daniel Avidan [2] born March 14, , also known by his stage name Danny Sexbang , is an American musician, internet personality, comedian, and actor. In the winter of , Avidan teamed up with Peter Lennox to form a Brooklyn -based alternative rock duo named Skyhill. On October 30, , the group released the single "Howling at the Moon" on YouTube , with an eventual release on streaming services in mid-November of the same year. In , Avidan began studying storytelling and improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York, under the guidance of Zach Woods and Margot Leitman, [1] [25] and had conceptualized the possibility of a new musical project. Avidan had already chosen the name "Ninja Sex Party," after "everybody's three favorite things," [29] and worked together with Wecht to create characters to represent the band. The duo first gained popularity by performing as a musical guest on Leitman's improvisational comedy show Stripped Stories.

They are also known as two thirds of the more rap-based musical trio Starbomb , together with frequent collaborator Arin Hanson. The work of Ninja Sex Party typically consists of rock or synth-pop -oriented humorous songs, frequently on the topics of sex, seduction, love or fantasy, with Avidan and Wecht respectively portraying the characters of Danny Sexbang; an idiotic, exuberant, hypersexual Jewish man who constantly yet unsuccessfully tries to hit on women, and Ninja Brian; a non-verbal, extremely homicidal ninja whom Danny is best friends with. However, their Under the Covers cover album series that began in saw them take on a non-comedic approach to music for the first time, covering various songs from the s, s and s. To date, NSP has released nine studio albums six consisting of original material, and three cover albums , in addition to three albums as a part of Starbomb. Wecht initially acted as record producer and performed all instrumentation on their early albums, until they started working with producer Jim Arsenault and later Jim Roach and backing band TWRP in Every non-cover album that the group has released has reached 1 on the Comedy Albums chart, and their highest peaking album on the Billboard chart was 17 despite being independent.
