Cunard queen mary 2 reviews
Our first cruise over the Christmas holiday! This was our 19 th voyage with Cunard, so it is obvious we like the line a lot. Every cruise line has a personality.
The ship holds a spot in the heart of many types of travelers, but especially those who love history, whether it's maritime history or Gilded Age. The biggest change was in the Kings Court buffet, which features a completely fresh design. The redesign transformed the space from a chaotic feeding frenzy into a calm space for daily grazing. The area could still benefit from more tables; we spotted some passengers taking their plates to Carinthia Lounge at busy times. With four elevators removed and 50 new cabins added during the refurbishment, Cunard QM2 -- as the ship is sometimes known -- could have become overcrowded around the other elevators, but this doesn't seem to be a problem.

We have enjoyed many cruises. The Queen Mary 2 was by far the best yet. It's an ocean liner, not a cruise ship, which meant the "ride" was so smooth it was hard to tell we were at sea for most of our 3 week voyage. Even in high seas and gale force 10 winds, we found it easy to move around and hardly noticed the motion. The ship provides outstanding service in every department. The crew is exceptional, courteous, friendly and very professional, making everyone feel special. The variety and quality of entertainment and enrichment activities was also unusually high compared to other lines we have used. It was a pleasant surprise to find a wide range of activities and talks, in particular the RSC, Dereck Daley F1 racing and even the King's former butler! The food - whether in Kings Court, the Restaurants or the Queens room was always excellent, well presented with lots of variety, not forgetting the irresistible afternoon teas. Excursions were fine, the ones we chose were interesting.
What more could we ask for?! They also offered a fine wine tasting, which only accommodated eight to 10 people. It felt self-promotional.
Lots of new staff with attitudes and 3 star service. Rooms are outdated and in desperate need of a renovation. Stains on carpets and drapes. Bathroom still has a musty curtain and room temperature can not be fixed as they were here twice. The staff questions everything.

Our transatlantic crossing sailed at capacity, yet the ship felt as spacious as ever. Remarkably, in fact, some areas often seemed quiet. One evening in the Carinthia Lounge, for example, we were among only a handful of passengers in the room.
