CryoUtilities has a big new 2. Previously it simply offered some Swap sizing tweaks but now it can do more, and makes it easier than ever to use. I'm hoping that Valve are at least investigating some of these changes, since they can often boost game performance. In fact, some of these tweaks are absolutely essential to stop certain games just hard-crashing and rebooting the Steam Deck like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn amongst others — although not everyone encounters the issue. Want to get better game performance on the Steam Deck? With CryoUtilities on Steam Deck you can tweak specific settings to get more out of the device. A caveat before we start. But for the bigger games, expect framerate boosts, less hitching, and generally stronger performance out of the box all thanks to the brilliance that is CryoUtilities. First click on the System 1 tab found on the left of the screen, then in the right-hand column, scroll down to the very bottom. Next to this will be a button marked Run 2. Click on Run and the Steam Deck will launch the task. Think of this as akin to disk defragmentation on a Windows PC. Once the task has finished, hold down the Power Button located along the top of the Steam Deck and when the menu appears in the center of the screen, select Switch to Desktop found at the bottom of the pop-up box. I use Chrome, but Firefox also works. Instead, use the left trigger to click on it and select Save as Link. Doing this will let you save the file to a designated place on your Steam Deck I went with the Downloads folder to keep things simple. The CryoUtilities installer file is only bytes in size so it should download quickly. With the right trigger, click on the file CryoUtilities file twice and click on Execute when the next window pops up.
My understanding is that the kernel is huge page aware, which reduces Cryoutilities 2 cache misses, even though the current game isn't. Swap File Resizer.

As of the latest update, this should be compatible with most Linux systems, with the following limitations:. Please keep in mind that support for non-Steam Deck devices is on a "best effort" basis, and will have a low priority. Unfortunately, the amount of effort and support that would be needed to guarantee functionality for all distros would require me to be working on this full-time, which is not the case. If you want to use the tweaks here without relying on this tool, please see the "How Does it Work" section below. The swapfile path is now completely dynamic and the resize functionality can recover in the event of an earlier failure! You no longer need to manually intervene if a previous swap resize failed, just run the resize again and it'll work its magic. There's now a simple "Delete all uninstalled" button in the "Clean Game Data" window.
