Colour: Beige. Coutil fabric, old fashioned english fabric with a herringbone weave. This coutil fabric has a flat side and a herringbone weave on the other side. Used in traditional corset making. Very strong and has no warping, very soft for a heavy weight fabric and also very supple.

A good material for corset-making -- in 15 colors! Double-faced herringbone weave rigid coutil fabric that's 61" cm wide. As coutils go, we'd call this a "soft" coutil. It drapes well and is best to use in addition to other fabrics. We offer a sample book of all 15 colors of this coutil here. Orders placed before 2pm on a weekday will be shipped the same day. Orders placed after 2pm will shipped on the following business day, excluding holidays. Materials sold by the yard are not returnable. All other items can be returned in original condition within 30 days for a full refund of the cost of the item. Shipping costs are not refundable and buyers must pay return shipping costs. The minimum quantity is one yard.

The only fabric that can totally meet these criteria is coutil. Coutil is a tightly woven fabric, which was invented in the nineteenth century specifically for corset making. It has a high thread-count, and is usually recognizable by its herringbone structure, as you can see in the picture above.
