My advice is the strafe to the right of the Black Knight. They almost always throw out an attack that lets you get a free backstab. Just rinse and repeat. I enjoy Andre's reaction to getting the Farron Coal, seems he's an Abyss Watchers fanboy just like me. He will guard break you through your unupgraded stamina bar for days!

If you're a dex build why else would you farm it lol then the Black Knight sword is actually the best way to do it, just use wa and crit the corvian knight under the bridge for days. Just did close to 20 runs farming the 4 skeletons near the bonfire. On the very last run, when I was calling it quits, it finally dropped. Thank you Miyazaki for finally giving me an ability to use 3 weapons instead of 2, but screw you for such terrible drop rates, these gems shouldn't be as rare as they are. Shame on you Miyazaki for forcing the player to grind if they want to try more than 3 weapons on a dex build.
