Dana Casey, MD, is a UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center member and radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of patients with pediatric cancers, lymphoma and breast cancer. I am a clinically active radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of patients with pediatric cancers, lymphoma and breast cancer. I have a particular interest in distinguishing radiosensitive versus radioresistant phenotypes, with the ultimate goal of elucidating which patients may benefit from de-escalation of therapy for the purpose of reducing late effects versus which patients may benefit from escalation of therapy for the purpose of enhancing long-term disease control and survival. To this end, I hope to translate novel discoveries made in the laboratory that exploit molecular vulnerabilities into well-designed clinical trials at both the institutional and national cooperative group levels.
