When I was a young child, our family spent the summers vacationing in upstate Carson gamefarm York, staying in one of the local bungalow colonies that were popular during that time. We spent our days visiting all the family attractions in the surrounding area, such as Catskill Game Farm.
My ex-husband was a cowboy there for about 4 years. I saw many a show there and to include the jumping horse. That was actually poked in the behind so it would jump LOL. Was there a bench with a statue of a cowboy on that bench there? We used to visit all types of amusement parks and I've got an old picture of me when I was a small boy. If I can find that bench with the cowboy I'm going to sit right next to him with my 6'5 frame and grab another picture. Like a cowboy with his leg crossed over the other sitting on the bench with one arm resting on the top of the bench so it looked like his arm was over your shoulder as u sat next to him???

It probably was some kind of schlocky Old West town where you overpaid to watch a gunfight and drink sarsaparilla in the saloon. The Catskills were full of these places, as evidenced by this article in the New York Times. Carson City undoubtedly is closed now, since I can find very little about it on the web. But I did find this postcard of the place, presumably in its prime. A grim row of buildings in a dusty clearing in the forest, a couple of buckaroos and a horse. Not really selling the place very well. Update: I tracked down a little more info, but not much. This article says Carson City was owned by Arthur Gillette, who sold it in This is a place that most kids-especially boys-will absolutely adore. Carson City is one of the largest reproductions of an old Western town in the country, and a day here is packed with action and fun. Skilled actors and actresses reenact a full slate of jailbreaks, gunfights, bank robberies, and saloon fights. There are also cancan dancers, roping demonstrations, trick horse riding, magic shows, and Native American dancing.

When you whipped out a bottle to feed the animals in the petting zoo, you were basically mauled by goats. A package of crackers might attract a hungry mob of deer, roaming free with dangerous-looking antlers. A pillory invited parents to imprison their children for a photo opp see my cousin Rory in the photo above. Good times all around! RIP Uncle Art. Our family was large 5 kids and we usually got the room behind the bar in the recreation building because it had two bedrooms. Not really selling the place very well. Nothing that we didn't think was absolutely first class ever stayed on a walk or breeding farm, and consequently, hundreds got the ax, both males and females. The Indians that went to pleasant acres alot were hawk,and little deer. How the hell did I get involved in this?!?!?!? I remember Jack too. I remember something like that. We also always stopped on rte 32 to ride the go carts on the way up. Also loved the cancan dancers so much that I dressed up as one for Halloween that fall. Except I took it to an extreme. Sad to see all of those places closed now… Does anyone know the address of carson city?

I participated in the street fights and enjoyed playing the role of the prospector. In addition to the Indian Dance Youtube video posted on this site, there are two relatively new Youtube videos recorded in the early 90s of some of the gunfight reenactments. Your older brothers were good friends of mine. We used to visit Catskill game farm,Toy city mini golf, Bailiwick farms, Ponderossa farms for horse back rides, Mystery spot, Jr. None of the attractions that I have mentioned above left.
