A capologist pitches trade scenarios year-round, follows day signings, tracks open roster spots and monitors which teams need to hit the salary floor among other things. They provide this crucial info to the rest of the front office. Sometimes, the capologist will present a trade and the GM just makes the call to execute the deal.
