Maybe if I was doing a lot of oak and maple and any of the harder woods I would have chucked the router a while ago. Pete in Welland. Really I am just looking for a basic router to get started with, but I also understand that some tools are so useless that they aren't worth it no matter how cheep. So it really doesn't matter how fancy the tools are. But like anything, I guess it's good to know what type of usage you have planned for it. Has anyone come across this router table before? For me, I've done edge routing and dados for shelves in book cases and I mostly work with cheap materials pine, cedar, and good old mdf. But getting back to the router don't skimp on cheap tools buy good and buy them once. Remember me. In conclusion, I think if I owned a router unit like this, what I would try would be to mount the fixed base into my router table and leave the plunge base for hand routing.
