Bike radar
Bike Radar is a very good bike radar around blog covering racing, commuting and recreational cycling. They have a very extensive and in depth review section for bikes, parts, bike radar, clothing apps and more. I think their lean is more toward the racing side but you should be able to get plenty of information on just about every aspect of biking.
I've been doing a fair amount of biking lately, and the one thing I'm always a little concerned about is that some car is going to come up behind me and take me out -- or at least sideswipe me and knock me off the road. Also, Garmin says it integrates with third-party apps such as Ride with GPS to overlay your maps with rearview radar alerts I did not try that, however. You get mounting options for three different seatpost types, so it should fit most bikes each of them mounted vertically to the seatpost of my Giant gravel bike without a hitch. The radar is easy to remove for charging -- it charges via Micro-USB, not USB-C -- but keep in mind that also makes it easy to steal if you leave it on your bike unattended. Battery life for RTL is rated at 16 hours with the light in day-flash mode and 6 hours with it in solid mode. The lightless RVR offers up to 8 hours of battery life.

At road. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything except locks but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value — with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price. Good scores are more common than bad, because fortunately good products are more common than bad. The Bryton Gardia RL is a well-priced and effective radar and rear light combination, pairing easily with my head units and detecting cars from an impressive distance away. There are some small quirks like patchy pick-up of motorbikes and losing vehicles when they're moving at your speed, but overall it's an impressive piece of kit. Not bothered about the radar? Check out our guides to the best rear bike lights. Its purpose is to warn you about vehicles approaching from the rear, but it has a couple of bonuses thrown in too, namely the easy-to-use smartphone app and smart light capabilities. Though made by Bryton, it pairs with most modern head units, and all of the most popular brands that I use. I tried it with a Garmin Edge and Hammerhead Karoo 2 and both were simple to set up and worked well once connected. As you would imagine, both units have their own ways of displaying approaching cars Garmin has moving dots on the right, while Hammerhead has car icons on the left , but the radar system worked very well on both.

How we test. The Bryton Gardia RL is a well-priced and effective radar and rear light combination, pairing easily with my head units and detecting cars from an impressive distance away. But often I would see them before I heard them, allowing me to move over to the edge of the road to give them more room to pass me. Like the Garmin, the Gardia also has degree field of view, for detecting vehicles that might be appearing around bends off-axis to your bike, but there are a lot of roman roads where I live, which came in handy for being able to see how effective the Gardia is at detecting over long distances.
