Beados

Am I the only person that thinks that Beados is the worst named kids toy going? Have you heard the tune in the adverts? Its even worse than beados it!

This has me amazed, I think I'd probably take over haha. I like that there's no messy glue and glitter, I dread the thought of when that day comes and the mess that follows. I like that there's a nice clean alternative. It looks really good. I may get one for my friends kid, it'll keep her quiet for a few hours. This kind of a toy is very new to me. Bindeez also marketed as Aqua Dots , [1] Beados , [2] PixOs , [3] and Aquabeads are a children's toy , consisting of small coloured plastic beads that can be arranged in designs. In , Bindeez was subject to a multi-national product recall after it was found that the Wangqi Product Factory in Shenzhen , China had, in some shipped toys, used a cheap chemical that was a pharmacologically active sedative prodrug instead of the safer chemical specified by the designers, resulting in the illness and hospitalization of some children who ingested the beads. Bindeez contains a craft kit that allows children to create various multi-dimensional designs using small colored beads. The beads are arranged into various designs on a plastic tray. When the beads are sprayed with water, their surfaces become adhesive and they fuse together. The beads are then left to dry and the whole design becomes fixed and can be removed from the tray. Unlike iron-fusible beads , they do not require heat to be fused. The beads are approximately five millimetres in diameter and come in a wide range of colours. Bindeez are available in various different kits with accessories such as a drying fan, applicator pen, design templates for the beads, and water spray bottles. The product is labelled for ages four and above. Bindeez were first withdrawn from the Australian market, [6] and subsequently from the North American market by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission [7] [8] as well as European markets [9] [10] in early November They were recalled in Australia after a two-year-old boy and a year-old girl became seriously ill after they swallowed large numbers of the beads and the connection between the illness and the product was discovered by a doctor at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Sydney. When we first announced the recall on Wednesday, we knew of two children who had fallen into non-responsive comas after ingesting the beads used with this arts and crafts toy.

When we were offered the opportunity to try out Beados, which work like fusible beads, but are bonded using water instead of heat, I knew the kids would love it — and I was right! They spent at least six hours with these, the first time I pulled them out — building projects, and planning how to use the beads we were sent. It was a beautiful six hours, because they were happily productive, and I was able to get other things done I did have to keep an eye on Anna while she was awake, because these beads are tiny and not for young children who might put things in their mouths. The kids put in a lot of time creating projects, both using the design cards that came with the sets and making up their own creations. Beados recommends not spraying more than five or six times to prevent excessively long drying times, but even this many sprays took a long time to dry and sometimes left us with beads not sticking together. Beados does recommend flipping the bead creations and spraying the other side and then letting that dry as well to create very durable creations.
