Baldurs gate fighter/mage
July in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. Hey y'all!
Humans can dual-class this combination as well with the sufficient stats. As a fighter, the character benefits from high Hit Dice , low THAC0 , multiple attacks per round, advanced weapon proficiencies , and access to all kinds of weapon, armor, and shields. This enables the character to act as a frontline melee character, though it will never be as good as a pure fighter in that respect. As a mage, the character has access to higher lore and arcane spells. The progression is slower than that of a single-class Mage of course, but not prohibitively so. Also, the player should keep in mind that they are unable to cast spells while wearing any armor with the notable exception of Elven chain mail , which can conflict with the fighter's preferred role. They can eventually select every mage High-Level Class Ability , but due to the required access to 9th level spell slots, they are significantly delayed in acquiring them.

But it seems that the 2nd best is often the most up for debate - and it's this debate that interests me most : EDIT: Guys - I think people are overanalyzing this WAY too much. A guy or gal who can wield axes and two-handed swords like Conan and cast spells. Don't overthink and overanalyze ;P. Last edited by gregorsamsa ; 25 Apr, pm. Showing 1 - 15 of 71 comments. Then dual to mage and put 1 point into quarterstaff early SoD. Philosopher Topic Creator 10 years ago
As a mage, the character has access to higher lore and arcane spells, although access to high level spells is only possible at the end of Baldur's Gate II. This means the player will require a thorough knowledge of the tactical applications of their spells if they are to act in that capacity. Also, the player should keep in mind that they are unable to cast spells while wearing any armor with few exceptions , which can conflict with the fighter's preferred role. As a unique downside, they cannot ever reach level 9 spell slots without modding the game to remove the 8,, experience cap, and therefore cannot take most of the High-Level Class Abilities of the mage class.
Nazad : The problem is, that also the con bonus is "shared" for all classes, which are present in ones multiclass-setup. In the triple-case I'd go definitely for I don't think you're calculating the HPs correctly there. You don't lose any of the bonus HPs from constitution due to round off though. Holy Power doesn't give you the attacks per round of a fighter of equivalent level.

It will certainly be weaker than a comparable melee character in nearly all respects for most of SoA and ToB, though. It's not just ToB that ranged is worse, it's merely worst there. It definitely is good in BG1, that much is true, but about midway through SoA at most it is overshadowed by melee.
Spooktacular creations
A lot of great points by agent above. As a mage, the character has access to higher lore and arcane spells. The Multi, that gets more pips and can not go beyond specialization, has much more options and for him to use that katana is certainly a good choice. Thirdly, the dagger has a subtle stat that I had not appreciated for years, especially the dagger of venom. Dual classing is human only, requires 15 in your first class's prime requisite Strength for Fighter , and 17 into the secondary's Intelligence, for a Mage. Int will be 17 after the int tome, so good enough to dual and later it'll be higher for level 9 spells, plus there's always potions of genius and mind focusing for scribing spells. Based on the above information, who should I recruit into my party? Not sure if this is the play and my plans may change - and not sure if I will even the complete trilogy the run. Anyway in the BG games many builds work fine and if you want to stick to you original plan of focusing on 2 weapons only and get GM in them you will find it effective and the plus is to have the feel that you have squeezed a lot from the few pips, usually only the pure Fighters reach GM in more then one weapon. But this is the way I play, and every way is good as long that is effective. After the duration of the first time stop ends, switch places with your shadow have him be the cannon folder while you cast time stop and carry on the cycle. If you multiclass, nothing changes, because a multiclass is essentially it's own class that just levels up relatively normally. Side Quest.
Stoneskin and mirror image are great for protection. Against real big bads, you can throw in protection from magical weapons.
Believe it or not to the end I had a thaco of in main hand and in off hand thanks to Crom and FOA. If you know that you're going to dual-wield in the later game, then start with two points in dual wielding here. Since this is 1, get yourself a bow and pew pew pew. Once you get there nothing can stop you. Then I'll level up to mage level 5 normally, then I'll sit there until I can go all the way to level 10 late SoD - obviously this part will be a pain in the ass and I'll just have to sit in the back and spam wands while the party does the heavy lifting; having no Stoneskin will make SoD especially tricky. On character creation, you'll have two extra pips that you cannot further spend on your one weapon choice. Philosopher Topic Creator 10 years ago 5 Hm Subsite Navigation Game Information. Tough one Going to be dualing at 13, btw. July edited July
