At the time, I was a small-time contractor who bought old structures in Maine and fixed them up and sold them. My girlfriend, Leah, was working at a local art supply store and was unjustifiably let go. One of my fixer-uppers in Yarmouth, Maine was vacant, so I got the brilliant idea to open an art supply store of our own. For about 10 years, we had our one store in Maine, and we moved to Portland and had great success. I found I was completely content to make my living locally. Then, in the 90s, the little art supply industry began to attract more attention and big money. Sanford the Sharpie Marker people bought two pencil makers and that led the charge.

The announcement was immediately met with dismay from the arts community in New Haven. Pike International did not immediately respond to a request for comment, artist and craftsman hours. The store only had two canvases left in stock, so the employees ordered the remaining 13 for him.

Open until PM. I can't believe I waited so long to come to this location! It is just fantastic. This is not a store just for artists although it definitely IS for them, lol. There are so many awesome gadgets I hadn't been to their new location since they moved from Calhoun, so i was very pleasantly surprised to see how well they filled the increased space!
