It is a land rich in history, having once been the home of the first human empire of Arathor , who gave the region its name, and later the Kingdom of Stromgarde. The Highlands are sometimes inaccurately described as the birthplace of humanity. After the death of its king, Thoras Trollbane , the once-mighty Stromgarde fell on hard times. Under his son, Galen Trollbane , the kingdom was unable to resist the might of its many foes. The city, Stromgarde Keep was assailed by a combined force of Syndicate , vengeful Alteraci who sought to lay low the kingdom, the native Witherbark tribe of forest trolls that dot the forest to the east, and the Boulderfist ogres , whose hovels dot the east and central regions of the area. The main hubs of activity became Refuge Pointe and Hammerfall , which functioned as bases for Alliance and Horde respectively. The city of Stromgarde , located in the southwest, fell into disrepair following the Third War , with Galen Trollbane holding but a single section of the city. To the south lies the Thandol Span , a massive dwarven construction that bridges the canal between Lordaeron and Khaz Modan , connecting the Highlands with the dwarven Wetlands. Prince Trollbane once led the human defenders, until he was slain by the Forsaken seeking Trol'kalar , later being resurrected to undeath.

It is a flat but craggy region that has traditionally been the home of the humans of Arathor , who gave the region its name. The main hubs of activity are now Refuge Pointe and Hammerfall , which houses bases for Alliance and Horde , respectively. Stromgarde Keep , also known simply as Stromgarde , [2] is the capital city of the kingdom of Stromgarde , located in the southwest of the Arathi Highlands. In ages past, the settlement was a cradle for human civilization, when it served as the capital of the Arathorian Empire under the name of Strom. By the time of the arrival of the Orcish Horde , it stood as a major power center as part of the Alliance of Lordaeron during and after some time following the Second War. Stromgarde was eventually sacked and left in ruins at some point after the events of the Third War , and remained in this condition for many years to follow. It was divided into three sections — one around the inner keep itself and under the rule of the Syndicate , the former mage district [2] largely under the control of the Boulderfist clan ogres with aid from the Witherbark trolls , while the last section remained under the control of the Stromgarde military and once served as the headquarters of Prince Galen Trollbane , until his death. The outbreak of the Fourth War brought a revival for the fallen capital. Supported by the Alliance and led by Lord Danath Trollbane , the League of Arathor fully re-established itself in Stromgarde and began restoring the settlement to its former glory.

Comment by The area you can see on the map that "seems" inaccessible called Faldir's Cove has lots of big-bonus quests It uploads the collected data to Wowhead in order to keep the database up-to-date! The vile Forsaken, fresh from their conquest of Hillsbrad, now seek to seize control of Arathi as well, aided by the fallen prince of Stromgarde, Galen himself.
