John travels to Paris to find Elizabeth 10 years after their intense affair, but after learning of her marriage to another man, he soon becomes involved with a beautiful and mesmerizing young designer. There's hardly a smidgen of chemistry between Rourke and Angie Everhart, what little erotic fun there is arrives too late, and the fully clothed dramatics are almost painfully uninteresting. But John continues to follow Lea and Claire around Paris, getting into fights in a local disco, having his pocket picked at an Arab gambling den and, finally, having rough sex with Lea in the middle of the night on a dingy street corner.

Rourke mostly grunts and Elizabeth behaves like a women who is off her meds.
Sign In. Hide Spoilers. In this one the character of John is so devastated by the loss of Elizabeth his lover from the first film that in the opening moments he places a gun to his head. It doesn't get any happier from there. A few scenes later he looks out his window and sees a once beautiful horse being turned into a dead one. That pretty much describes the state of John and of this sequel. It's a dark dirge of a movie with none of the joy of the first film and that's the whole point.
