However I always encounter "Swap Activity Warning". I have to restart Virtuoso to recover normal operation speed. I think it is because Virtuoso can not release allocated memory. Is ther any method to recover normal operation speed without restarting Virtuoso? Title: Re: Virtuoso Slow Down after Large Memory exhaustion Post by Andrew Beckett on Dec 21 st , , am There has been some work on this recently - but in general releasing memory back to the operating system is challenging in most applications. Please contact Cadence Customer Support for this as then a Cadence AE can see if there's anything that can be done to help not sure which subversion of the IC tools you're using, for example. Regards, Andrew.

What is ViVA? What is abbreviated as "ViVa"? If so, Cadence have new waveform viewer without fixing many bugs of wavescan. Wavescan will be abandoned as same as AWD after a release of Wavescan? It's the waveform tool in the IC release. It's not a whole new waveform tool; it's based upon wavescan, but as part of our ongoing improvements, various parts of it are being re-implemented in Qt, to allow tighter integration with the rest of the IC61 tools. Currently the calculator and results browsers have been reimplemented in Qt the modern widget set and user interface used in IC61 , but the graph is essentially the same as the IC wavescan graph - note that there have been a lot of improvements in that over time too. Ultimately the graph will also be reimplemented in Qt. There are lots of benefits of doing this - it will allow graphs to be embedded in lots of other places in the tools, which is not possible with the current Java implementation - things like being able to have waveforms in tabs alongside your schematics and ADE XL views, etc, etc. So it is not a matter of abandoning wavescan, but an evolution of wavescan - fixing issues and improving it as we go along. This reimplementation will allow tightening of the interfaces between the parts of the tools; wavescan was originally a standalone tool for command line spectre users, and was then used as an AWD replacement and AWD definitely needing replacing because it was very elderly and quite limited in how it could be extended , so much of the work has been in making a peg of one shape fit into a hole of a slightly different shape.

Xdefaults should be in your normal home directory. Regards, Andrew.

Profession… senior associate at a law firm, until he was wrongfully terminated. Andrew was diagnosed with AIDS eight months ago during a bout of pneumonia. He recovered quickly and was back at work in ten days. Since he was doing so well on the AZT, he decided against telling anyone about it. He dove back into work and everything was fine, until the lesions started. Soon after that, he was fired by Wyant Wheeler. Interests… the law.

In the latest manual it details a cyclic select where you can cycle thru all objects under the cursor. The manual says you start this by "cntrl-y". This does not work as "cntrl-y" is not bound to anything. I looked thru all the Cadence supplied bindkey files and "cntrl-y" is not bound in any of them. So then I searched thru the Skill code using Finder and did not find anything related to cyclic selecting. I seem to remember this working at some time in the past.

So it would be worth mentioning that if you log a case with customer support. Pete nospam Zakel. Simply calling gc as part of closeResults won't solve the problem - it really helped in my other example which had a relatively small number of very large signals - but clearly doesn't help so much in the situation where you have a lot of medium-sized signals.
