After having listened to the album thoroughly I shall now share my thoughts. WTF Namie? The song almost screams drunken debauchery everytime I hear it now, but in a elegant Frenchy way lol. Album Review: Namie Amuro - Style. When Namie Amuro returned to music with a new album in , everything had changed. Not just the landscape of the industry, but her own personal tastes. But, I digress. Genius and Break the Rules saw Namie dip her toe into these sounds under the wing of Dallas Austin, the song writing and production force behind TLC. The results weren't great. But their working together was a necessary journey for Namie to jump on-board the Suite Chic project and then end up at Style, by which point Namie developed the courage to shed her pop persona and see that maybe this new avenue could actually work for her, and it did. Because let's face it. And if you ain't slut dropping to "Shine More" are you even alive? Quite simply put, a lot of it was bad. And a lot of it sounded the same.

The inclusion of an overseas producer is very evidenced in the more Western sound that GENIUS tends to go for while still maintaining bits and pieces of the classic J-pop sound that had made Namie popular up until now. This combination of genres and ideas that GENIUS brings to the table seem interesting on paper, but ultimately leave something to be desired in terms of execution. The album starts off with the instrumental intro "Make the Connection Complete," which plays into the theme of the beginning of a new era with futuristic, electronic sounds and a robot voice which spells out the title of the song. It's not much, but it flows nicely into the first full-length track "LOVE The soundscape of this song is like nothing else in Namie's discography prior to this release and even after.
