A couple of days back, I was supposed to take a Mumbai — Delhi flight, to come back to family for the holidays. I guess this is a plan for them to be able to clear the winter rush, as well as accommodate all the people who may get displaced from other flights due to fog. So, I looked at the price , and it was about similar to 30 days out fares on AI, and it became a no-brainer to get on this flight instead of the night flight where I would have only arriving home later than 1 am. I managed to get over to a counter for business class, however, the lady on the desk was just trying to get passengers out of her face by pointing them to other queues till I reminded her that I could check-in on this queue as a higher tier member of AI. Looking at the crowd, I wanted to upgrade to business class with a voucher, but I took the bet on getting a free upgrade when the agent mentioned the flight was oversold. I then went to the Air India Lounge to check in and get some pictures. Since none of the gates at Terminal 1 are really big enough for widebody traffic, the Air India plan was to bus the passengers to the apron of Terminal 2, after completing the boarding here.

Hey guys and welcome to another Flight Report!! This is the penultimate FR on my recent trip around Asia and will cover my second domestic flight within India from Mumbai to Delhi on India's flag carrier. I specifically picked this flight because it'll give me an opportunity to fly on one of their widebodies instead of the usual A that operates this route and other domestic routes. This flight usually alternates between a ER and a LR. These s operate routes between India and North America, which are Air India's longest flights with a flight time of around 15 hours. Now instead of suffering 15 hours on one of these s you'll see why later , I get to experience it on a much more bearable 2 hour hop instead. It is a bit more than LCCs but that's obviously to be expected. Checked baggage and seat selection is included in the base fare.
