The A12 was closed in the Carlton Colville area of Lowestoft. This was following a collision at the A Bloodmoor Road. The driver of one of three vehicles involved - a man in his 80s - was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The other two drivers were treated at the scene. The issue caused knock-on effects on traffic throughout the surrounding area. The road is now clear and traffic is returning to normal. See below for all the updates we posted on this story. Traffic has been stopped on the southbound carriageway following the major crash. A crash has blocked the A12 near Colchester today December 12 with severe delays in the area. The incident has taken place near junction 26 at Marks Tey and congestion is building back around Colchester. There are severe delays in the area as emergency services attend the scene. The road was blocked and then partially reopened before being shut again in the last half an hour. It is not yet known how many vehicles were involved in the crash or if there have been any serious injuries. Traffic remains at a standstill. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area completely.
