And does it matter what pole of the solenoid I put the battery cable and what pole I put the battery output on? Attached a pic of the solenoid. Thanks, beatle Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. Thats like asking if it matters what wires you hook up to what sides of your battery terminal. If you just installed an entire plow set up, I would hope you know how to wire, or find a wiring diagram, for that selenoid. Beatle, I hope you are joking.
From your controller, run the wire that comes out the back of it to the small post on the right. Post by Chuck » Mon Oct 28, pm. Re: starter solenoid wiring Coors said:.

This is how a 4-pole starter solenoid switch is connected. One of the larger terminals is connected to the hot wire coming from the battery, the second large terminal is connected to the starter, the first smaller terminal S connects to the ignition switch, the second small terminal connects to either ballast resistor R or ignition coil I and is generally unused. Make sure to ground the frame. Solenoids provide a safe and easy way of activating and deactivating any kind of electrical ON and OFF components. They allow to activate high current circuits and manage them by switching on two contacts that need considerably less power to be activated than the current that the solenoid is going to handle.

So yes, we nearly know nothing about the starter solenoid that most people want to know. But not anymore! We made this guide for you, to help you know more about the starter solenoid. From what is it, to how to wire it, from how to replace it to how to repair it by yourself. Trust me, this is the best starter solenoid guide online. A starter solenoid is a combination of solenoid and switches Full name: Starter Solenoid Switch. As we all know, the starting of the engine requires external support, and the car starter is playing this role. In general, the starter uses three components to achieve the entire starting process. Drive the starter pinion engaging in the flywheel ring gear. Function 1 When turn on the ignition switch and the starter circuit is turned on, the electric current flows to Starter Solenoid and create the electromagnetic force.

It has four post comming out of it. I don't think it does on the small wires battery wire goes on the bat side. If so, how did you wire it up? Thats why it isn't specified in the instruction manual, because it does not matter. My old starter solenoid broke so I removed it. I should of took a picture before I tore into it. We're talking a good 3 hours of pulling my hair out. It should still work like your 3 pole. The only difference between the 3 and 4 post switches is whether the "I" post is there, or not. Log in.
You already know what a starter solenoid is. And that mechanism already tells a lot about the importance of this part for any vehicle. To hook up a starter solenoid on a Ford, you need to work with 3 sometimes 4 wires.

With the four-pole solenoid the two small posts are for the coil. The large posts are pos. It should still work like your 3 pole. I tried what i believe is every way the wires could go but all i get is either it wants to continuously crank soon as i connect the battery or when i try other wire configurations it sparks heavily when i connect the battery. The solenoid was kinda rusty and old looking, so I jumped it Re: starter solenoid- 3 pole to 4 pole conversion question.
You are mistaken. Let's discuss. Write to me in PM, we will communicate.
Earlier I thought differently, many thanks for the help in this question.
