The 33 Grosvenor Place project was a challenging one. The Onsernone granite for the main reception and lobby areas had to be extracted from a quarry in Switzerland, before being dry laid in the cutting factory in Italy. The layouts had to be examined and approved by architects PLP before shipping. Then they had to be carefully labelled and recorded before being packed in crates, after which they were installed on-site to the approved layouts and dimensions. The remit from the architect and client for the operating theatres was to deliver a product that would be free from contamination, seamless and easily maintained. We solved this by installing an in-situ resin floor: we used the Mondecco range by Flowcrete coupled with a terrazzo coved skirting. The resin surface, with its seamless appearance, was perfect for this project.
