My existing thermostat is two-wire. There is 48vac across the two wires, which is what makes the connection for the thermostat. I should think a similar arrangement could be used for the thermostat. That being said, the current wyze thermostat could do what you are asking, with a C adapter transformer to power the wyze. You would need to attach a 24VAC relay to the furnace to deal with the odd voltage though. This i s how I would do it: Turn off the power to the furnace. At the furnace side, cut the wires, leaving enough slack on both sides to strip the wires back and connect the 24VAC relay. Attach the NO and C terminals of the relay to the wires that come from the furnace. Attach the 2 wires that come from the thermostat to the coil side of the relay. Then move to the thermostat area. Attach one side of the 24VAC transformer to C, the other side needs to be spliced with a pigtail to one of the wires that used to go to your furnace. The pigtail needs to go into the Rc terminal on the wyze. Attach the G connector the other wire in your wall that used to go to the furnace. Now, whenever the wyze tries to run the fan, it will run your furnace, and as you have told it that both your heat and cooling source require a fan, it should run whichever you ask it to. The circuit to the thermostat is 24, not 48!

Red should connect to W on downstairs stat. Then move to the thermostat area.

In recent years, thermostats have become more and more high-tech. There are now several different types of thermostats on the market, from the standard programmable thermostat to the more advanced Wi-Fi thermostat. One way to do this is by using a 2 wire smart thermostat. A two-wire best smart thermostat is a thermostat that can be controlled remotely, making it perfect for people who are always on the go. Additionally, a 2 wire smart thermostat can help you save money on your energy bill. The most common type of 2-wire HVAC system is a forced air system. In a forced air system, the furnace blows heated air through ducts in the house and into rooms. The blower fan in the furnace is usually controlled by a thermostat. When the room reaches the desired temperature, the thermostat turns off the blower fan.

Success starts with knowing what type of thermostat wiring you have or need. This guide addresses volt systems, the majority of HVAC systems. These systems can be traditional split systems, with one component outside and others inside, ductless split systems with outside and inside components and packaged systems with all components located in a single large case, usually installed outdoors. They can be single-stage, two-stage or variable-capacity systems.

Unfortunately, keeping a clean house can be difficult, especially if you have pets or live in an area where it is difficult to stay on top of dust. Testing passed for heating both for thermostat and the NO relay. If relay is needed what is a good relay to buy? If you see a different configuration when opening your panel or are unsure of the wire configuration or the presence of specific wires, it is best to contact an HVAC specialist for clarification. In this post I will show you how to install Nest thermostat 3rd Gen on one of the most popular heating plans in UK — Y plan. I have also created a video that you can see below with a full tutorial.

Newer Post. New User? Got any hints how to reconcile this problem? If you look at the splice picture Voltage checked per your info showing correct at each point. Since Rh and W1 voltage under scenario 1 is only 0. If you have a battery-operated digital thermostat that controls only heat, you most likely have a 4-wire thermostat system. That means white goes to R on one stat and green goes to R on the other stat. Not all of these sockets may be present if you have a 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire thermostat. This i s how I would do it: Turn off the power to the furnace. That's it. You previously posted a zone valve picture. Screw turns but won't come undone. Attach the 2 wires that run to your furnace to Rh and W1.
