After seeing a surge in small tap rooms and independent bars, a gap was evident that none specialised in simple, cost effective but delicious food where drinks complimented the food offering. When I started writing food reviews, I was daunted at the idea of having to find 52 different restaurants to visit. Now, I don't mean literally as of course Lancashire is bursting with hundreds places to eat out, and thankfully I'm happy to see a large majority of them have survived the pandemic. My concerns were centred more on finding a subtle or obvious difference in each one, something that sets it apart from the rest. It got its moniker in tribute to the year the town's name was settled with the second part reflecting the food served and impressive range of craft ales available.
